Internet Safety

How to be safe on our blog

Thank you for visiting our blog. If you have any questions or comments, please leave us a comment. We LOVE hearing from you! Before you post your comment, here are a few important but simple rules to follow.

1. Please do not use last names that will refer back to students in the class. Feel free to post as "Billy's Mom" or as "Cindy's Grandpa". This blog will only contain the first names of the children in the class, and in some occasions a nickname of a student.

2. Please do not post any personal contact information such as phone numbers, e-mail address, or home addresses.

3. Please use only positive language. We are trying our very best at all times but that looks different for each one of us. Please celebrate our achievements with us.

4. Please try as best as you are able to model proper grammar, spelling and punctuation. Mrs. van der Veen will try to keep student blogs and comments as authentic as possible. As grade one and two students we may have grammar, spelling and punctuation errors, but please remember we are still learning how to become better writers. Hopefully over time you'll notice the improvements in our writing.

5. If you see something on this blog that you feel should not be published to the world, please let Mrs. van der Veen know immediately.

Please be aware that all comments will be moderated by Mrs. van der Veen for appropriate content before they appear on this blog.

Still worried about online safety for your child.  Here's an online link to share with your child about online safety. Here's another one from Brain Pop Jr.

** Special thanks to Mrs. Lireman who created 'How to be safe on our blog'.
